Fundraiser: Please help our injured member Nathan

We are asking members to please consider donating to a fund to support one of our members, Nathan Pryor who experienced a life-changing injury.

Nathan fell from a 3-metre height and as a result damaged his spinal cord. As a result of the injuries from the accident, he has been diagnosed as an incomplete quadriplegic with some partial limb function.

Prior to the injury, Nathan was a Unit Attendant at AGL Loy Yang A Station in Victoria for six years and he has been an MEU member during his entire employment.

Unfortunately, Nathan is currently ineligible for support from the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), as Nathan is a New Zealander, although he has been living and working full-time in Australia since 2007.

Nathan can apply to become an Australian citizen as of the 1st of July 2023, however the advice they have received indicates that this process will take at least six months.

Due to the time between Nathan’s discharge and the point at which he can potentially access support from the NDIS, Nathan’s family cannot afford the significant costs associated with Nathan’s rehabilitation, care and home modifications that he requires so desperately.

Nathan’s workmates have been fundraising for him and to date have generously raised over $30,000 to go towards Nathan and his family. Nathan’s wife has also now set up a fund for others who would like to contribute.

We wish Nathan and his family all the best with their journey.
